What do you love the most about your neighborhood?
Great schools, walkability to stores & parks, and close proximity to San Francisco.
The highly rated school district and the natural beauty of this neighborhood from the towering eucalyptus trees to the red maples in the fall.
What was your journey like buying a home?
We had to sell our home in San Francisco before buying in Burlingame and that was the hardest part of the journey. Once we began working with Raziel to find a property in Burlingame, the process was seamless and Raziel represented us incredibly well.
I expected the process to take 12-18 months given the competitive nature of the market. For us the saying “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity” held true. We spent a lot of time tracking trends in the market and watching each home that hit the market in our price range. Combining our efforts with a knowledgeable realtor like Raziel, we were able to act decisively and purchased our home within 2 months.
What surprised you the most about the home buying process?
There is a short seasonal dip in the Burlingame real estate market and you can capitalize on it if you time it correctly.
The biggest surprise was that there were no surprises with the home buying process. Buying a home can be stressful, but Raziel was on the ball making the process a lot easier.
My experience working with Raziel was: ___________ .
Succinct.
I’ve found that my best experiences with real estate transactions have been when I work with someone that matches my style of working. Communication was concise and turn around on actions were quick. That wouldn’t have been possible without Raziel’s excellent knowledge of the area and market trends.
Easy.
Raziel’s insightfulness, astute contract and negotiation skills, and ability to move quickly allowed us to confidently navigate the bidding process with great success.
Where did you grow up? How did you decide to stay here?
I grew up in coastal Santa Barbara. Burlingame gives me the same type of small-town feel as Santa Barbara, yet has the proximity to biotech jobs here in the Bay Area.
I grew up all over the West coast from Alaska to Los Angeles. I settled in the SF bay area after graduating college both for the great job opportunities and the close proximity to California’s iconic landscapes (Yosemite, Big Sur, Redwoods)
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Being lucky enough to have two beautiful healthy children with my long-term crush, Cindy.
Combining family and career: raising two boys while also working full-time in the medical field.
What was your childhood ambition?
It ran the spectrum from pilot to surgeon.
I wanted to be a veterinarian and on the USA equestrian show jumping team.
What’s your favorite hidden gem?
Probably best not to say as it’s pretty well hidden on purpose.
The huge farmer’s market every Saturday at The College of San Mateo
What’s been your biggest challenge?
I lost my mom suddenly to glioblastoma 2-years ago and learning to grieve, heal, and rebuild. We just planted a beautiful pineapple guava tree in our backyard in memory of her.
Having enough time in the day to get everything done that I’d like to do.
What was your first job?
Cashier for a major restaurant chain, but it was short lived. I quickly pivoted to a more fulfilling job as a lifeguard.
I worked at a summer pop-up café at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
What’s your greatest Inspiration?
My mom because she valued and prioritized what is truly important in life: family, nature, hard-work, and kindness.
My mother. I’m continuously amazed at her accomplishments as a working single parent and her ability to simultaneously attain great professional success.
What’s your favorite movie?
Bladerunner, but Aliens is a very close second.
The Shawshank Redemption and Real Genius.
What’s on the top of your bucket list item?
Pursue some personal photography projects on Easter Island and separately experience another full solar eclipse with our kids.
Travel the world: Europe (Switzerland, Poland, and Iceland), Madagascar, Machu Pichu, Namibia, and Japan.
What organizations do you love?
SF Marin Food Bank (kids can volunteer here), Serenity House Santa Barbara (provide around-the-clock hospice care), Guide Dogs for the Blind.
I gravitate toward nature conservation (The Wilderness Society & Sierra Club), cancer research (Cancer Research Institute) or animal rescue (Marine Mammal Center) organizations.
