What do you love about your neighborhood?
We love the proximity to Washington Park and downtown. The neighborhood's sidewalks and tree-lined streets make it very walkable and we are at Washington Park at least twice a day with our dog and 10-month old son.
What was your journey like buying a home?
The Burlingame market is tough and it can be frustrating to not just find a home, but close the deal on the right home. You need a partner to be in it with you for the long haul.
What surprised you the most about the home buying process?
It surprised me how competitive the Burlingame market is - homes are going for 20% over asking, all-cash bids, with no contingencies (regardless of the condition of the home). Even then, you are often in competition with 5-10 other families.
What was your experience like working with Raziel?
Raziel is extremely well networked into the local market and to other professionals - contractors, agents, home inspectors, etc. We tapped into many to help with various properties - all of his recommendations were top-notch and were willing to bend over backwards to help meet our timelines. It's clear that his integrity and impeccable communication has clearly earned him stripes within his field. Many agents we would see at open homes knew his name and sang his praises - which was critical when it came to negotiations with the sellers!
What's been your proudest accomplishment?
Bringing a beautiful and thriving baby into the world and surviving the first year of parenthood. We are having a blast but sleep is no joke!
What was your childhood ambition?
To positively impact patient lives through healthcare innovation.
To be a firefighter
What is your favorite hidden gem?
It's not quite hidden but we love going to Hog Island Oyster Farm - it is a beautiful and still relatively untouched slice of Northern California where cell phones don't work and your can shuck and grill oysters. We do a family barbecue there every year!
What's been your biggest challenge?
Time: Figuring out a way to clone ourselves so we can spend time with each other AND get everything done!
What was your first job?
Teacher's Assistant Bar/Bat Mitzvah Teacher at Temple Beth Shalom
Checkout/bagging at Safeway.
What's your favorite movie?
Toss up between Pretty Woman and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
What's your favorite room in your home?
Family Room / Kitchen
What's at the top of your bucket list?
We don't make bucket lists but I'd like to learn to swing dance.
What is one of the most relaxing things for you to do?
To be able to wake up and go to sleep seeing and hearing the ocean.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
It's a tie between:
1) Make mistakes, learn from them, laugh about them and move along. If you are not making mistakes you are not taking enough risk and
2) At any given time you will either have time or money but not both. Figure out where you are and take advantage of it accordingly.
