Peninsula Humane Society - Dog Days (and Evenings) Are Not Just for Summers
Everyone knows that pets help relieve stress and lower blood pressure, and now you can adopt a pet at the Hillsdale Mall on the third Saturday of every month. The Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA will be hosting adoptions in Macy’s Center Court.
PHS has everything you need to know to make life with your pet comfortable and safe. From their low-cost vaccination clinics to Pet Loss Grief Support Groups, if a pet is part of your life, PHS can help.
Don’t be afraid that you will be on your own once you adopt your pet. PHS has ongoing programs to help you be a good parent.
Every Saturday they host Dog Day Mornings, where dogs can romp and play off-leash in a supervised atmosphere. There are two sessions – 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM for dogs of all shapes and sizes, and 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM, which is just for small dogs. Your dogs must be current on their vaccinations, have attended a basic obedience class, and if they are more than 6 months old, they must be altered. This program will be good for your dog whether he is a social butterfly or a wallflower.
Dog Day Evenings is a program for dogs 6 months or older and over 40 pounds. They can socialize in an indoor/outdoor facility, rain or shine. The group provides supervised playtime with a professional trainer, who monitors dog interactions. Dogs must be current on vaccinations, have attended basic obedience class and must be altered.
If your dog has just joined your family or has not had obedience training, there are year-round classes. Classes are 6 or 8 one-hour sessions and are limited to 12 dogs. Discounts are available for PHS/SPCA members, for dogs adopted from PHS/SPCA, and for seniors.
