Spring Fling at Filoli Mansion and Gardens
Filoli Mansion and Gardens, located 30 miles south of San Francisco (in Woodside) is recognized as one of the finest country estates of the early 20th century. Filoli is a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and stewardship of the cultural traditions and natural history of this country estate for public education and enjoyment.
Now that winter is over and Filoli’s gardens are beginning to bloom, it’s the perfect time to welcome the new season. Bring the whole family to the Spring Fling.
Take a stroll on the paths and enjoy the colors and fragrances of tulips, camellias and magnolias. The Bubblesmith is back to amuse children and adults alike, and the Fortis Agility Sports Training Group will put their talented dogs through their paces. In addition to alpacas and a miniature horse for petting, puppies in training to become Guide dogs will also be in attendance.
In the Front Courtyard, children can get their faces painted or get creative at the craft tables. Inside the House, you will be stunned by the amazing floral displays created by Filoli Volunteers. In the Ballroom, Heather Rodgers will perform magic and Nick Barone will entertain with his puppet show.
In the Garden Shop Courtyard, sample Filoli products and other tasty treats. Freshly-made popcorn is complimentary, and there will be lemonade, cookies and other beverages will be for sale.
The Shorebirds Band provides musical entertainment near the Sunken Garden, and Joe’s Jazz Ensemble will perform at the tennis court as you relax with a boxed lunch. Please note: boxed lunches must be ordered and purchased by 4 PM on Monday, March 26. If you prefer, the Filoli Café is another option for lunch.
Not convinced yet? Garden Docents will be available to answer your questions about the plants, trees and flowers planted on the grounds, and children can test their green thumbs by potting a spring plant in a pot they can decorate to take home.
