It is 1958; 14 year old Bobby Fischer has just won the United States Chess Championship. The San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first Major League Baseball regular season game ever played in California. Fidel Castro’s revolutionary army begins its attacks on Havana, and Elvis Presley is inducted in the army. The Bridge on the River Kwai wins 7 Academy Awards and Nikita Khruschev is the new Premier of the Soviet Union.

If your memories of 1958 include crinolines and poodle skirts, you’ll want to see The Marvelous Wonderettes at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City in July. The show takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, and as you learn about the lives and loves of the four girls, you’ll be treated to classic songs of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Remember Lollipop, Dream Lover and Stupid Cupid? Those songs and 20 more will fill the theater as you travel back to a simpler time. I predict you'll be singing along and dancing in your seat.

The show opens on July 12th and runs through July 29th. There is reserved seating, so visit the box office or click here to order tickets.

When: July 12th – July 29th

Where: Fox Theatre, 2215 Broadway Street, Redwood City

Phone: 650-369-7770
