Steeply pitched gables and classic half-timbering create a striking first impression for this beautifully updated Tudor on one of the most coveted and peaceful streets in Easton Addition. The setting of this generously sized lot is exceptional, with the natural backdrop of a seasonal creek that provides both privacy and soothing views of nature. Behind the covered entrance, inset with beveled-edge glass panes, interiors reveal timeless character enhanced with thoughtful modern updates. Fine hardwood floors, refined millwork, updated lighting, and plantation window shutters enrich the period charm in almost every room.

The formal living room features a coved ceiling with crown moldings, an expansive true-divided-light window, and a gas and wood-burning fireplace with a cast stone surround. Through a wide arched opening, the formal dining room is crowned by a contemporary wagon wheel chandelier with candle-style lights. Ready for entertaining on any scale, the remodeled kitchen offers wood-grain cabinetry topped in honed granite and glass tile backsplashes, a center island with seating, and premium stainless steel appliances including a Thermador gas range and built-in Viking refrigerator. The adjoining family room provides built-in cabinetry with defined media space, a generous pantry and sliding glass doors to the rear yard.
The highlight of the 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath floor plan is the upstairs primary suite, a second suite ideal for guests, and two additional bedrooms served by a hallway bath. The generously sized lot features a yard with synthetic lawn, paver stone patio, and elevated deck. A large powder room, generous laundry room, upper-level air conditioning, and smart features, including a Nest thermostat and Rachio irrigation controller, along with a detached 2-car garage, complete this exceptional Easton Addition home—ideally located near top-rated Burlingame schools, parks, trails, and shopping.

Burlingame
Easton Addition
After falling some 42% between 2021 and 2023, sales in Burlingame’s signature neighborhood increased by 36% in 2024, landing at 50 — by far the highest in Burlingame but still far from the 66 homes sold in the neighborhood in 2020. Unfortunately for Easton Addition sellers in 2024, accompanying overall home values fell by 6.8%, finishing the year at $3.357 million, though Easton Addition’s price-per-square foot rose slightly, from $1,399 to $1,410. Average Days on the Market (DOM), which rose to 32 in 2023, fell back to their norm at 19 (equal to 2022). Notably, despite these mixed numbers, Easton Addition buyers paid 104.1% of asking price for their homes in 2024, almost 6% more than in 2023 and slightly more than recorded in 2022.

Burlingame is one of the few areas that has maintained its gracious charm and timeless elegance over the decades. A favorite among families, Burlingame’s two main shopping areas, Burlingame Avenue and Broadway, attract a wide variety of shoppers discovering its boutiques, restaurants, dessert places, and clothing stores. Home to fresh farmer’s markets every Sunday morning in the summer and fall, jazz concerts in Washington Park, and a yearly Art in the Park fair, Burlingame is a wonderful place to start a family or retire later in life, and is well equipped for both!
Its tree lined streets offer an abundance of architecture and style of homes, from quaint two bedroom bungalows to thoughtfully designed four and five bedrooms.

Burlingame shares a common history with neighbors San Mateo, Millbrae and Hillsborough, but only up to a point. Like the surrounding communities, Burlingame was once the site of native Costanoan villages and then part of a Mexican land grant (Rancho Buri Buri to the north and Rancho San Mateo to the south). Burlingame’s history diverges from that of nearby Peninsula cities in the late 1800s, when Francis Newlands, son-in-law of landowner and Nevada Senator William Sharon, came up with a plan to turn this stretch of real estate into a playground for San Francisco’s wealthiest residents.
Note from seller
Welcome to 1568 Columbus Avenue!
It’s hard to believe that it was exactly 30 years ago that we first toured 1568 Columbus Avenue and recognized the potential the home, neighborhood, and broader Burlingame community could provide as we were just starting to have children. We would often drive by the house, imagining what it would be like to live there, but had no idea just how wonderful living in this part of Burlingame would be, and that this would end up being the only home we ever owned.
When we look back on all our years there, we will always remember the peacefulness of living at the end of a horseshoe-shaped street, away from stop signs or traffic lights, which resulted in very little through traffic and noise. This meant that we didn’t have to worry as much when our kids played outside. It also provided an ideal setting for teaching them to ride bikes and even play wiffle ball in the street! Looking out our front windows through the birch trees was always soothing and beautiful, and looking out of the back of the house provided a sense of privacy and expansiveness that is hard to find in a town with reasonably small, adjacent lots.
There’s a true feeling of community and camaraderie on our block, enhanced by the annual block party and the fact that some folks have lived there for over 40 years! We have always felt connected to our neighbors, whom we would socialize with and could count on for help with babysitting, dog sitting, package retrieval, or simply keeping an eye on our house when we were away.
Our home is in a great location, and we have fond memories of walking our kids to First Presbyterian pre-school and Lincoln Elementary (plus being near BIS was an advantage). We also spent many years hiking (with our dog) in the nearby Mills Canyon. The restaurants and shops on both Broadway and Burlingame Avenue are very accessible, as are 101 and 280. Plus, the weather on our block seems a bit warmer than many other spots in Burlingame — not sure why, but it makes for wonderful summer barbeques in the backyard!
We had fun putting our footprint on the space, making the house as functional and aesthetically pleasing as it is today through various upgrades and remodels, including the addition of air conditioning upstairs, which helped us sleep soundly in the summer months. Over the years, the floor plan and layout provided our family of four with many years of togetherness and joy.
1568 Columbus Avenue has been a special place for us, and we hope it will be just as special for you!
