Everyone knows that one of the most important considerations when deciding where to buy a home is the quality of the local schools. If your child is entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2012, registration begins on February 1st. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by November 2nd of the school year they are entering. You MUST pick up your registration packet in person at the school office, and you MUST have the following with you:

Proof of Birth Date

You must bring one of the following documents: birth certificate, baptismal certificate or passport.

Proof of Residence

You MUST bring a current PG&E bill plus one of the following:

- Bank statement

- Other utility bill - your water or Comcast bill would be perfect.

- Insurance papers

Do NOT bring a telephone bill, escrow papers, a rental agreement or a lease, as these documents are not considered acceptable proof of residence.

Required Immunizations

Polio (IPV)

4 doses (3 doses if the last one was given after the 4thbirthday)

Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus (DTaP or DPT)

5 doses (4 doses if the last one was given after the 4th birthday)

Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)

2 doses (both on or after the 1st birthday)

Hepatitis B (Hep B)

3 doses

Chicken Pox (Varicella)

1 dose

Your child must have a check-up before school starts, but be sure you take him/her for the exam after March 1st. Bring the Health Exam Form to your doctor and return it to the school after the exam.

If you’re not sure which school serves your address, click here to find out. However, California has an open enrollment policy, which means your child can attend any school in the district, including charter schools, as long as there is space.

For the 2012 – 2013 school year the District is providing an extended day kindergarten program. Click here to read about the changes to the program.
