South San Francisco

Brentwood

One of South San Francisco’s first post-war suburban neighborhoods, Brentwood was developed in the late 1940s on 132 acres of what was once part of a ranch belonging to Peninsula pioneer Custodio Silva. Today, Brentwood is a long-established residential community offering well-built single-family homes at or around $1 million. Brentwood homes are generally between two or three bedroom models 65 and 75 years old, single-story, with between 800 and 1,300 square feet of interior living space. They sit on small city lots measuring 4,000 to 5,000 square feet. Most recent sales in Brentwood have been of homes ranging in price from $905,000 and $1.29 million.

Brentwood is conveniently located just south of Avalon Park, offering a slightly more affordable option for buyers attracted by this locale. It’s bordered by El Camino Real to the east and Highway 280 to the west. Golden Gate Cemetery is its southern border. This located allows Brentwood residents easy access to commute corridors and the shopping and dining options of The Shops at Tanforan and the San Bruno Towne Center. While not a “walker’s paradise,” Brentwood does offer more walkable options than all but a few South San Francisco neighborhoods.
