Overview

This beautifully renovated 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom single-story home sits on a 5,500 s/f lot in San Bruno's sought-after Mills Park neighborhood. Inside, 1,140 s/f of thoughtfully updated living space awaits. A curved walkway winds through the freshly landscaped front yard to a covered porch, where a warm taupe stucco exterior and shutter-framed windows create timeless curb appeal. Inside, the light-filled living room is anchored by a custom millwork fireplace and finished with crown molding, wide-plank white oak vinyl flooring, and floor-to-ceiling built-ins offering open shelving, closed storage, and a bench.

The remodeled kitchen features white shaker cabinetry, quartz countertops, subway tile backsplash, and under-cabinet lighting, along with a new stainless steel range hood, dishwasher, and gas range. A pantry cabinet adds storage. Positioned between the kitchen and living room, the dining area creates an easy flow for everyday living and entertaining, with wide plank flooring, crown molding, and recessed lighting carrying through the adjoining spaces.

All three bedrooms feature the home's wide-plank flooring and crown molding. Two feature corner windows, one of them accented by a decorative starburst ceiling light, while the third opens directly to the covered patio and backyard through a sliding glass door. The bathroom offers a vanity with marble-style countertop, a farmhouse sink, and a subway-tiled tub/shower with soft-close sliding glass doors and a tiled accent niche. Built-in hall shelving just outside adds convenient linen and everyday storage.

The freshly landscaped backyard features a full-width covered patio running the length of the home, opening to a level artificial turf lawn. Broad built-in steps lead to an elevated deck spanning the width of the yard, complete with a wood pergola, ample space for lounging, and a hot tub. Raised planter beds and newly painted fencing complete the low-maintenance grounds.

Additional features include smart light switches throughout the home compatible with major smart home platforms, a Level 2-30-amp EV charger, and a spacious attached two-car garage with smartphone-controlled door opener.

Mills Park is one of San Bruno's most popular neighborhoods, moments from the YouTube campus and convenient to downtown, El Camino Real, the 380 freeway, BART, and Caltrain, and served by neighboring schools John Muir Elementary, Parkside Intermediate, and Capuchino High School (buyer to verify).

San Bruno

Mills Park

Conceived as an entry-level to middle-class option for families looking to flee the city in favor of quiet suburbia — and later for G.I.s returning from the war — Mills Park has remained true to its founders’ original vision, even as local housing prices edge toward the $1 million mark.

For a number of reasons, Mills Park real estate is among San Bruno’s most popular. It is convenient to downtown, El Camino Real, the 380 freeway, BART, and Caltrain and its curving, quiet streets easily makes it the kind of suburban neighborliness that is often missing from urban and rural settings. The locals keep their homes in good condition and their yards trimmed and their gardens well-tended. Perhaps this is why Mills Park homes soared past the $1 million median mark recently, with the most recent sales falling in the $1.38 to $2.4 million range.

Explore Mills Park

Once a stop on the road between San Jose and San Francisco and then home to the legendary Tanforan horse racing track, San Bruno came into its own following World War II, when a combination of population growth fed large-scale expansion of the city’s western hills. Today, San Bruno is once again on the rise as homebuyers discover this vibrant, diverse and conveniently located city offering myriad housing options ranging from turn-of-the-century cottages to mid-century subdivisions, all the way up to gleaming new condominium buildings. Downtown features mom-and-pop shops and restaurants, plus the Bay Area’s only casino, the venerable Artichoke Joe’s, and BART whisks riders to San Francisco’s Financial District in 20 minutes. Further west, rolling hills offer plenty of protected open space — and an easy freeway commute to Silicon Valley.

Welcome to 743 Pepper Drive!

We moved into 743 Pepper Drive in November 2020, as a couple with our dog, already excited to start our family. Not long after, we welcomed our daughter, followed a couple of years later by our son. In just a few years, this house has been the backdrop to so much of our family’s life, from quiet beginnings to the joyful chaos of raising two little ones.

We always planned to stay here for a few more years, and over time, this house really became our home. It’s where both of our kids took their first steps, and it’s always felt cozy and full of everyday life. When we recently updated the interior, we did so intentionally because we planned to stay here for a few more years and wanted the home to better support our day-to-day life with two young kids, more stuff, and a growing need for storage and functionality.

If you ask us what we’ll miss most, it’s easy: the backyard! It has been the true heart of our home, hosting more gatherings than we can count, from family dinners and an office summer BBQ to a bridal shower, Easter egg hunts, and unforgettable Fourth of July celebrations with fireworks, friends, and family late into the night. On quieter evenings, it was our favorite spot for casual firepit and hot tub hangouts. And every fall, the tree in the yard turns the most brilliant shade of red. It has become our favorite backdrop for family photos and holiday portraits year after year.

We’ve also loved this neighborhood for its wonderful neighbors, calm residential streets, and everyday convenience. We’ve loved being able to walk with the kids to CVS, Mollie Stone’s, or Starbucks, and visit their uncle at YouTube.

It’s bittersweet to leave a home we’ve loved so much, but we feel incredibly lucky to have called 743 Pepper Drive home. We hope the next owners find as much happiness, laughter, and good memories here as we have.
