The California Academy of Sciences, just 20 miles away from Burlingame in San Francisco, is the only place on the planet with an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum and a four-story rainforest under one roof. Of course, there are wonderful exhibits that are great family fun during the day, but there is also a great program for the 21+ crowd on Thursday nights, when music, creatures and cocktails come together. Experience Nightlife at the Academy, where you can explore exhibits and aquarium displays with a cocktail in hand. There's a special Planetarium shows which will take you “where no one has gone before”, and exotic animals form around the world will make you feel as if you’re on a round-the-world safari. Each week features a live band or DJ.

On December 15th, Bazaar Bizarre Nightlife gives you the chance to buy your last minute gifts amid indoor snow flurries and an aromatic spice forest. Don’t miss the live reindeer while you shop for handbags, pottery, t-shirts and more, all crafted by independent artists and craftspeople. You can see drag queen Peaches Christ in the piazza or take a tour of the universe in the Planetarium. Director of the Morrison Planetarium, Ryan Wyatt, will explain the latest space headlines in layman’s terms and return you safely to Earth in less than an hour.

You can even take a VIP or Specialty tour for an entirely different Nightlife experience. To learn more about the special Academy tours, click here.

All this and more takes place between 6 PM – 10 PM and you can purchase your tickets online.

The Academy will be closed from December 22nd – January 12th, but you may be sure that there will be fabulous events in the New Year. It's located in Golden Gate Park at 55 Music Concourse Drive in San Francisco. If you'd like to call the Academy, their phone number is 415-379-8000.
